The name DarkDunes is inspired by the natural beauty of dunes shaped by wind, sand and time. Dunes are timeless, ever-changing and deeply connected to the ocean, just like swimwear is connected to the beach.

We chose the word Dark because dunes on Earth are golden or white, but on other planets like Mars they can appear darker due to volcanic minerals. They are still dunes, just different. That is exactly our philosophy. We design swimwear that feels familiar yet unique, rooted in tradition but created with a bold twist.

DarkDunes was started in 2023 by Niklas Trogrlic and Emily-Sophie Henne. Born and raised in Germany Niklas, the founder, is a young entrepreneur passionate about fashion, with a successful track record in different industries. Emily, a multicultural woman with a keen eye for style, has been excited about creating her own designs since she was a little girl and plays an important role in shaping the look and feel of our collections, while also supporting all other aspects of the brand with her creativity and dedication.

Together we are a couple of lovers of summer, the beach and above all, the lifestyle it represents. We have created a fashionable brand designed for young women by mixing both our backgrounds.

Our goal is to have a different and sustainable brand and create pieces that last several seasons. We don't overproduce, meaning our stock is tight. That way we generate as little waste as possible; meaning sometimes your favorite pieces may be out of stock. In order to have a more green company we use ECONYL fabric in many of our designs, which is a recycled material obtained from recycled plastic bottles.

Today we are very happy and proud of what we have achieved and of what DarkDunes is. We still have a long way to go and a lot of growing to do, and we are excited to do it with you 🤎
